The Masters Avenue is closed to traffic at Bourneside Boulevard through October while crews finish the west half of a new roundabout in Lakewood Ranch.

The east portion of the roundabout is complete, including curb work and the final road surface, Manatee County Government announced on X on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Traffic is now diverted to Bourneside Boulevard North.

The project is being built in two phases. With the east side done, construction shifts to the west half, requiring a full closure of The Masters Avenue at the intersection. The county has not specified an exact reopening date, saying only that the closure runs through October.

Drivers who normally use The Masters Avenue to connect to Bourneside Boulevard or reach neighborhoods to the north will need to follow the Bourneside Boulevard North detour for the duration of construction.

University Parkway widening adds disruption

The Masters Avenue closure is not the only construction affecting the Bourneside Boulevard corridor.

A separate Manatee County project to widen University Parkway between Lorraine Road and Bourneside Boulevard began July 20 and is expected to run through summer 2027. That work includes additional lanes and intersection improvements along the stretch.

The two projects overlap geographically but are separate efforts. Together, they mean months of disrupted traffic patterns for residents in the eastern sections of Lakewood Ranch who rely on Bourneside Boulevard as a primary north-south route.
