State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota opened spring 2027 enrollment Monday, Oct. 5, with classes available at its Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton and Venice campuses and online.
Continuing students can register starting Monday, Oct. 5, through the college's MySCF portal at My.SCF.edu. New students can begin registering Monday, Oct. 12, by applying at SCF.edu/Admissions, according to the college's enrollment announcement.
The spring semester starts Monday, Jan. 11, 2027, and runs through May 1.
Students who want a shorter schedule can choose from several Flex Start options: 12-week sessions beginning Feb. 1, 8-week sessions beginning March 15 and 5-week sessions beginning as early as Feb. 15 and as late as March 29. SCF Online courses are also available, according to the college's academic calendar.
All tuition and fees for full-term classes are due by mid-December. The college's academic calendar lists Wednesday, Dec. 16, as the deadline, though students should confirm the exact date through MySCF. Students who have not paid in full, set up a Nelnet payment plan or secured financial aid by that date will have their classes dropped, according to SCF.
The deadline matters. The last day to submit a new student application is Friday, Jan. 8, 2027. The last day to add a course or drop with a refund is Saturday, Jan. 16.
SCF offers associate degrees, bachelor's degrees and workforce certificate programs. The workforce certificates are tied to the region's high-demand industries, with pathways to registered apprenticeships, according to the college. Student support services include tutoring, advising, testing and learning communities, along with help filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for eligible grants and scholarships.
High school seniors in Manatee County have an additional reason to look at SCF. The Manatee Board of County Commissioners approved a $7.5 million, three-year partnership with the college called the Suncoast Prosper Scholarship Fund, first reported by The Bradenton Times. The program provides last-dollar financial assistance covering tuition and fees remaining after other grants and scholarships are applied.
The scholarship is expected to support about 1,425 students and is open to 2027 and 2028 graduates of Manatee County public, charter, alternative and private schools, as well as home education programs. It takes effect in fall 2027, not the spring semester open for registration.
When the county commission approved the fund in August, Board Chair Tal Siddique, who represents District 3, called it "an investment in our students and in the future of Manatee County" that connects technical education with pathways to apprenticeships and good-paying careers.
Spring break runs March 8 through March 12, 2027. Spring commencement is scheduled for Friday, May 7.
