Free and low-cost events fill Lakewood Ranch's calendar Thursday, Sept. 3, through Wednesday, Sept. 9. Waterside Place anchors much of the action, with activities spread across the community.
The week's biggest draw is the Farmers' Market at Lakewood Ranch, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Waterside Place, 1561 Lakefront Drive. The weekly market features more than 100 local vendors selling organic produce, flowers, honey, fresh bread, baked goods, pet products and jewelry, according to the Tampa Bay Beacons. Live music and a Kids' Zone round out the morning.
Friday, Sept. 4, brings Music on Main to Main Street from 6 to 9 p.m. The free block party includes food vendors, beer trucks, inflatables for kids and a live concert. Proceeds benefit a local nonprofit. The organization has not been identified. Details are available at LWRmainstreet.com.

Musician Joe Thayer performs 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Remy's on Main, 8138 Lakewood Main St. Thayer, a full-time local musician since 2008, plays piano favorites spanning Billy Joel, Elton John and Van Morrison.
Earlier that morning, Casual Cornhole runs 10 to 11 a.m. at Waterside Place, 7500 Island Cove Terrace. All skill levels are welcome.
Yoga in the Park starts the weekend at 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Waterside Place, 7301 Island Cove Terrace.
Sunset Volleyball closes the schedule Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Waterside Place, 7301 Island Cove Terrace. The weekly pickup games are open to experienced players.
Looking ahead
A 9/11 Commemoration takes place 8:30 to 10 a.m. Sept. 11 at Greenbrook Adventure Park Pavilion, 13010 Adventure Place. Complimentary coffee and donuts will be provided. Registration is available at tinyurl.com/3ffmumns.
That same evening, Movie in the Park screens "Toy Story 5" at 7 p.m. at Waterside Park, 7301 Island Cove Terrace. Grace Community Church will give one free dipped frozen banana from Nana's Bananas to the first 163 attendees. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Concessions and inflatables open at 7 p.m.
