State tournament ahead
Coach Dave Frantz, who coached Lakewood Ranch from 1998 to 2014 and returned in 2019, told Your Observer in September that all seven of his top players had handicaps of one or lower.
The Mustangs finished 12th at the 2025 Class 3A state championship after runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2024. Their most recent state title came in 2013, completing three consecutive championships.
The regular season ends Oct. 24, according to the FHSAA. The Class 3A state finals are scheduled for Nov. 13–14 at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
Girls beat Riverview
The school also reported a 159–185 girls victory over Riverview on Oct. 15 at Greenfield Plantation Golf Club. Freshman Chloe Friedberg led with a 37, helping improve the team’s record to 10–4.
